The assessment of the safety and security of volunteers’ placement sites, access to those sites, telephone coverage, selection of community integration counterparts, the drill of the emergency action plan to respond appropriately in case of emergency, the ongoing contact with consolidation points partners in case of volunteer’s hibernation, identification of trusted drivers , security meetings with representatives of law enforcement and security forces, monitoring the implementation of cooking safety guidelines at volunteers’ residences, recording volunteers information data related to partners, work, whereabouts, housing GPS into Volunteer Information Data (VIDA), host/home stay families’ orientation on Intercultural Competences , Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access (ICDEI&A), are the main components of my scope of work.
Sites Identification, Housing and communities mobilization to facilitate Volunteers integration was the main duties I prepared in average 15 sites per year for new Volunteers and held approximatively 30 meetings with communities' leaders and other partners. I was also the Office Representative in the area I covered.
Add to the above, I supported the volunteers being a SARL (Sexual Assault Response Liaison). This experience sharpened my skills to provide meaningful support to volunteers who have gone through something as harmful as sexual assault can often be. I still be on side of those who experienced rape, sexual harassment, or aggravated sexual assault.
I worked to promote family planning right and access to services for all, specially involving men to support women:
- I planned and supervised community mass and outreach activities
- Liaised with 6 NGOs which subcontract the supervision of the Community Health Workers
- Trained 70 Community Health Workers on annual base for 4 years.
- Capitalized and shared best practices in family planning programs’ implementation
- Prepared annual work plan and reports.
My first job experience was very relevant and continues to impact my whole professional life as at this position, I set up 12 youth clubs to promote adolescents and youth rights to sexual and reproductive health and increase their awareness on life skills through:
- Weekly meetings supervision and quarterly trainings for each club on life skills
- Participation in the development of the curricula of capacity building of young people in Togo
- Implementation of the participatory research study with youth clubs to design Youth friendly sexual reproductive Health services
- Youth camp and exchange meeting organization
- Assessment of safe transport conditions and organization of youth camps and exchange meetings
- Monitoring of compliance with the code of good conduct for drivers and youth mentoring facilitators
